Detectives drop charges against man accused in murder

Posted: Updated:

A local man accused of murder is out of jail today, after detectives said the charges against him will be dropped.

Portland police said new information regarding the death of Leonard James "LJ" Irving on June 26 outside a bar in northeast Portland have led them to formally drop the charges against 23-year-old Isaiah Mandley Jr.

Deputies released Mandley from the Clark County Jail on Sunday and the charges against him will be formally dropped Tuesday.

This investigation started June 26, when Portland police officers responded to reports of a man shot at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Thompson Street.

Officers found Irving, 34, dead as a result of a gunshot wound.

The investigation into this crime is ongoing. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 503-823-HELP (4357).
