Police: 73-year-old man exposed himself to teenage girls at park

Posted: Updated:

A 73-year-old sex offender was arrested yesterday on suspicion he exposed himself to two teenage girls on a state park trail last week, state police say.

Troopers say the girls, ages 14 and 15, were on a trail leading to a beach at Lost Creek State Park on July 5 when an unknown man exposed himself.

The girls were part of an organized group visiting the state park and they reported the incident to an adult chaperone. Police say the chaperone spotted the suspect leaving in a car and caught up with the car, delaying it long enough to take a photograph.

Using the photo, police Senior Trooper Dave Peterson identified Julian Combs as the suspect.

Combs is a registered sex offender who lists a Salem home as his permanent address, but police say he wasn't living there.

Troopers caught up with him at a home in Newport on Tuesday and they arrested him on one count of failure to report as a sex offender and one count of felony public indecency.
