A disgruntled ex-girlfriend burned down a southeast Portland man's marijuana growing operation earlier this week because she was upset over the way he treated her, according to court documents.
The court papers allege Jessica Evert set fire to Christopher Cook's garage on Southeast Tibbits Street on Saturday night because she "wanted to damage something that was really important to him."
Portland fire crews responded just before 11 p.m. and put out the flames within minutes.
The day after the fire, Evert called Cook on the phone and claimed responsibility for the damage, police said.
Cook arranged for Evert to come to his house to talk about paying for the damage and that's when detectives took her into custody. Evert now faces a charge of second-degree arson.
Cook told FOX 12 that his marijuana was used for medical reasons and was 100 percent legal.
