PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Music fans who long for the days of Hammer pants and Vanilla Ice hair might find some amusement in an electronic construction sign spotted in southeast Portland over the weekend.

The sign tells drivers, "Stop. Hammertime.,"as they approach the Morrison Bridge on the east side of the Willamette River.

The sign, located at Southeast 12th Avenue and Morrison Street, is intended to warn drivers about construction on the bridge, not share lyrics from M.C. Hammer's most well known song.

There have been no reports of traffic problems caused by the sign hacking.

Portland-area residents didn't seem to mind that the sign's original message was changed.

"It's fun to drive by and see stuff like this. You need to take a picture," said Tyler Shipley, who was amused by the sign.

"It gives people a laugh and a giggle, which is cool," said Karin Shipley.

Multnomah County authorities told FOX 12 that they need to get in touch with the contractor in charge of the sign before it can resume showing its original message.
