Longview woman hurt in violent robbery

Posted: Updated:

Longview Police have one man in custody but another suspect is still on the loose after a violent armed robbery in a local neighborhood.

Shortly after midnight on Monday, police say 26-year-old Jason Musso and the other suspect confronted a woman outside her home on 17th Avenue.

Police say they pushed her face into her car, ripped her purse off her shoulder and forced her head inside the car and sat on her.

The woman hit her head on the gear shifter as the suspects allegedly grabbed her hair and shoved a gun in her back.

Police say they later spotted two men matching the suspects' descriptions, but they started running. Later though, they say Jason Musso eventually tripped and fell in a ditch. They say they found him with a handgun and they took him to jail.

Some neighbors say they are not entirely surprised by the robbery and they don't think the woman was a random target.

"If it's true, I'm worried about it because I have children living here and it makes me concerned because there's been a lot of police activity around here," said Steinauer.

Longview investigators say they have some leads on the second suspect, but they have not made an arrest yet.
