10,000-acre wildfire burning in Vansycle Canyon

WALLA WALLA, WA (KPTV) -

Crews are working to contain a fire in the Vansycle Canyon of Walla Walla County that started yesterday afternoon.

The fire has grown to an estimated 10,000 acres. There are no residences in the area of the fire and an evacuation has not been made at this time.

The Fire Protection Bureau has requested an additional 13 wildland engines, two water tankers, one bulldozer, and two 20-person handcrews to add to the existing crews battling the fire.

Washington State firefighters say the fire started approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday and is believed to have been started by a human.
