Cat survives being shot in the face in Battle Ground
BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -
Three teenage boys accused of shooting cats in Battle Ground could be tried as adults in court.
Battle Ground police say the boys were caught in June with .22 caliber shell casings in their Ford Explorer. Officers say the suspects also had two rifles and several hundred rounds of ammunition. One of the rifles was allegedly loaded.
The teens were pulled over near Northeast Third Avenue, where a cat had just been shot in the face.
The owner of the cat said it was the second time one of her pet cats had been shot in just a month. Both animals survived.
The teens' schedule arraignment Tuesday was postponed. Lawyers are still negotiating whether to prosecute the suspects as adults.
They are due back in court on Sept. 13. They could face animal cruelty and drive-by shooting charges.
Two of the boys are 16 years old. The third boy is 17.
