Four people arrested in what Portland police believe to be the largest drug seizure in bureau history appeared in court today for arraignment.
Ricardo Alarcon Castaneda, Julian Castaneda-Alarcon, Minerva Rosas-De Alvalos and Ivan Sosa-Gascon each face several drug related charges, including possession, manufacture and delivery of heroin, cocaine or both.
Investigators arrested the suspects on Sept. 14 after getting a tip that a large shipment of drugs would be arriving in Portland.
Portland police and DEA investigators seized 28 pounds of heroin, two pounds of cocaine, $156,000 cash, six handguns, a rifle and a ballistic vest after serving three search warrants in the Portland metro area.
The value of the drugs is estimated between $1.5 and $2 million.
