Deputies say an Oregon couple was found shot to death at their rural Grants Pass home on Monday.
The Josephine County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called to the home of Susan and Dennis Goins off of Mountain Greens Lane on Monday afternoon when Susan's co-workers called authorities, concerned that she hadn't shown up for work.
Deputies found Susan dead in the driveway, killed by an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Believing the suspected shooter may still be near the home, deputies called for assistance from the Oregon State Patrol SWAT team.
SWAT officers performed a search of the home Monday evening and found the body of Susan's husband, 63-year-old Dennis Goins, inside the home. Deputies said he had also been shot in the head.
Sheriff's investigators did not immediately say whether a person of interest had been named, but said they believed there was no additional threat to the general public.
Detectives spent most of Monday night at the home, collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
Deputies said they were working with the Oregon State Police Forensic lab in connection with the killings.
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the deaths to contact major crimes detectives at (541) 474-5153 or by contacting the confidential tip line at (541) 474-5160.
