PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Rescue crews from the Portland Aerial Tram prepared for the worst over the weekend.

As part of a drill, crews lowered participants from 100 feet in the air to perfect their aerial emergency skills.

The drill was held Sunday above the Oregon Health and Science University Casey Eye Institute parking garage.

The Portland Trail Blazers' mascot "Blaze" was among the volunteers who took part in the exercise.

Ropes and harnesses helped them land safely on the rooftop below.

The tram opened to the public in 2007.

Since then, it has made more than 217,000 trips and carried more than 6 million riders.
