Man who posed as plastic surgeon cuts plea deal

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 21-year-old man admitted Monday he had pretended to be a doctor at Oregon Health and Science University hospital and committed identity theft and other crimes.

Lucas Ebert pleaded guilty as part of an agreement with the prosecutor. Ebert told the judge that he was guilty of criminal mistreatment and practicing medicine without a license.

Ebert has been in jail since late June, when he was arrested after pretending to be a plastic surgeon.

The prosecutor says a woman whom he advised to stop taking her medications complained about him when her condition worsened.

Ebert was also charged with identity theft and with passing bad checks at a Portland hotel.

He pleaded guilty to five charges.

Twenty-nine other counts will be dropped when Ebert appears in court Dec. 7 for sentencing.

He has pledged to make restitution to the patient he harmed and the hotel where he passed the check.

The judge is expected to sentence Ebert to 38 months in prison if she is satisfied he'll comply with the conditions of the agreement.
