The Portland Timbers held their last post-season training session of the year today at Jeld-Wen Field.
The practice sessions began in late October, shortly after the team's season ended in Utah with a draw against Real Salt Lake.
Last month, head coach John Spencer said he wanted the players to continue practicing about four times a week to keep in shape during the off-season.
"I think the season's ended too early for us," Spencer said in October. "If you finish up now, by the time you start in late January, it's just too long a break."
Now he says it's time to let the players rest and spend time with their families before returning to prepare for the 2012 MLS preseason in January.
