PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Two people were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a home burglary near Southeast Powell Boulevard and 64th Avenue.
Portland police say a man who lives in the neighborhood saw a group of people kick in his neighbor's door. Witnesses described the suspects as three male juveniles and three female juveniles.
The neighbor called 911 and then chased after the group. He says the teens were carrying items stolen from the home as they ran away.
"They scurried like rats because they could see I was following them," said Lanny Weinrich, who chased the thieves. "I don't know that I would do it again, (I'm) not a big crime saver and not a hero or anything, but I'm just not going to put up with it in my neighborhood."
After setting up a perimeter, officers found two of the males and recovered some stolen property, according to the police bureau.
The burglary investigation is ongoing.
Weinrich says the homeowner returned to find his house burglarized and also learned two cats got out and ran away.
