PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A series of billboards designed to dig up new clues in dozens of cold case crimes will soon be seen around Portland.

The Portland Police Bureau is partnering with Clear Channel Communications to put up 25 billboards across the city.

Each one will include details on four unsolved murders, bring the total number of cold cases featured to 100. Some date back to the 1960s.

"We need the community's help to come forward with information.  We know there were witnesses out there who saw what happened.  But for a variety of reasons, they've not be willing to come forward," says Det. Brian Steen, Portland Police Bureau Cold Case unit.

A relative of one of the victims, 26-year-old Eyo Nyong, says he hopes the billboards will make people speak up.

"(Eyo's) been gone for almost six years. It's been that long. And finally, somebody's doing something to try to find out who did it," says Jerry Davis, Nyong's uncle.

According to Portland Police, nearly 300 murders have gone unsolved since 1969.
