MYRTLE CREEK, OR (KPTV) -
A man who deputies say was using a firearm as a prop to tell a story involving a gun, accidentally shot himself in the head.
Douglas County sheriff's deputies say 30-year-old Lee Miars, of Myrtle Creek, died at Mercy Hospital on Monday night.
Witnesses told the sheriff's office that Miars was using a semi-automatic handgun as a prop to tell his story. He ejected the magazine from the weapon, put the gun near his head and pulled the trigger.
The gun fired and the bullet struck Miars in the head.
Deputies first responded to the home on Arnold Lane at about 5:30 p.m. Detectives were then called in to help in the investigation, but it was determined to be an accidental shooting.
