Police: Sex crimes unit looking into alleged hazing

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police say detectives with the sex crimes unit are investigating alleged hazing at Grant High School.

Last week, the school's principal said the incident involved an assault among junior varsity basketball players.

"All students have the right to be in a physically and emotionally safe environment. We will continue to work with authorities to fully investigate this incident," Principal Vivian Orlen said in a news release.

A handful of students have been suspended and removed from the team, but no arrests have been made.

No other details have been released.
