Sheriff’s office seeks owners of abandoned animals

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about the owners of a group of abandoned animals, including chickens and a pot-bellied pig.

Deputies found the chickens, a rooster and two hens in the La Pine area Thursday. They say because the animals had been boxed up and dropped off at the end of a dead-end road, it appears they were purposely abandoned.

Investigators say two weeks ago, a pot-bellied pig wandered into a yard in the area of Day Road and Amber Lane. A person who found the pig kept it at their house for a week, hoping the owner would come and claim it.

Anyone with information on possible owners for these animals is asked to contact the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.
