BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -
The FBI is ramping up its Beaverton-area search for two suspects in an internet fraud scheme.
Rick Hendrix, 56, and Sarah Deswert-Hendrix, 30, face mail and wire fraud charges. They're accused of taking photos of items in stores, posting the items for sale on internet auction websites and then collecting money from bidders.
Victims in Oregon, Washington and California racked up more than $300,000 in losses as a result of the scheme, the FBI said.
Hendrix and Deswert-Hendrix were arrested at their home in Portland in 2005, but they then disappeared while on pre-trial release. Now, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service is trying to track them down again.
Investigators believe Hendrix might be living in the Beaverton area.
Information about the case will be posted on a new electronic billboard along Highway 26 at Southwest 185th Avenue in Washington County.
Hendrix is described as white, 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 220 pounds with blue eyes and brown, graying hair. Deswert-Hendrix, meanwhile, is described as white, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 180 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to call the FBI at 503-224-4181. A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case.
