Thirty pigs died in a McMinnville barn fire Wednesday morning.
Barn owner Ken Schmidt said he's out $5,000 as a result of losing the pigs, of which seven were sows and 23 were piglets.
McMinnville firefighters responded to the barn fire at 14670 SW Oldsville Road at about 3 a.m. They found the barn fully involved in flames, and fought the blaze from the outside, quickly bringing it under control.
No people were injured in the fire, which caused a total of $10,000 in damage. The building wasn't insured.
A fire investigation team determined the blaze started by a heat lamp being used to keep the stalls warm in anticipation of the birth of new piglets.
