GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -
Oregon State Police said they are continuing the investigation into Tuesday afternoon's two vehicle crash on Highway 26 that left one man with critical injuries.
Investigators believe as many as four people fled the scene after the van they were traveling in crashed into the driver's side of an SUV after drifting into the median of Highway 26 at milepost 18, about one mile east of Gresham.
The westbound van then crossed the center median where it rolled and came to rest upright across both eastbound lanes.
A witness told arriving officers that at least one person got out of the van and fled on foot. A K-9 track led officers west toward Stone Road, but the van's occupants have not been identified or located.
Dean Pace, a 52-year-old man from Sandy, was driving the SUV and was wearing a seat belt when the crash happened. He was taken by LifeFlight to OHSU, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday morning.
