Skyline school student accused of inappropriate touching on bus

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Multnomah County Child Abuse Team says it is investigating reports of inappropriate sexual touching on a school bus.

Detectives took two separate reports of inappropriate touching in December 2011 and January 2012. Two female students reported the incidents, and one male student is being investigated by police.

Police say the three students are all seventh-graders who rode the bus together.

Because the victims are under 14 years old, few details are available, and the investigation is being conducted by the police bureau's child abuse team.

School officials are working with police in the investigation, police say.

A spokesman for the district says the principal for Skyline School started an investigation when he learned of the allegations in mid-January. The principal has met with all of the students involved and their parents, the official says. The school councilor has gone to each middle school classroom and talked to students about what to do if and when they encounter sexual harassment.

The district would not comment on the discipline process but says they hope to have the issue resolved within the next week.

Skyline School, which has students in kindergarten through eighth grade, is located at 11536 NW Skyline Blvd. in northwest Portland.
