ROSEBURG, OR (KPTV/AP) -

Douglas County sheriff's detectives said a death at the home of Stephanie Condon's parents is a suicide.

The sheriff's office said Marty Condon, the father of the girl who went missing in 1998, shot and killed himself late Wednesday night.

At 11:15 p.m., a 911 call was made by Marty Condon's wife, who reported her husband shot himself and needed medical aid. Paramedics tried to save his life, but they pronounced him dead at his Canyonville-area home.

His daughter, Stephanie Condon, disappeared while babysitting in rural Douglas County in 1998 at the age of 14. Her remains were found in Glide in 2009.

A jury later acquitted the prime suspect in Stephanie Condon's death last April.

Sheriff's detectives and Roseburg Police are continuing to investigate Marty Condon's death.
