VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
A Vancouver man out looking for his cat found a body in a field between two houses early Tuesday morning.
Investigators are now trying to figure out how the man died.
Vancouver police were called to the intersection of East 32nd Street and Norris Road after the man made the discovery in the empty lot. Paramedics soon arrived to see if they could help the man, but he was already dead.
Neighbors FOX 12 spoke with said that they hope no foul play is involved.
"I'd like to know who it is. I hope it's no one that lived around here," said Dennis Van Druff, who lives right across the street from where the body was discovered. "We have a lot of homeless people that hang out right over the hill. Police said the body has been there a while so it's probably a homeless person. It's a shame this happens," he said.
The Vancouver Major Crimes Team is investigating the cause of death. The area remained blocked off with crime scene tape Tuesday morning.
The man's name has not been released.
