PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Two homeless men were shot while they were sleeping on a sidewalk under the Morrison Bridge on Wednesday, police said.
One man was shot in the chest, while the other was grazed on the side of his body by a bullet in the 5:12 a.m. shooting near the Morrison Bridge.
Paramedics rushed the man shot in the chest to a Portland hospital so he could be treated for possibly life-threatening injuries.
Officers learned from witnesses that the men were shot in a drive-by-style shooting involving a pickup truck.
The truck is described as a newer, black four-door pickup with no canopy.
Homicide detectives are now investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 503-823-0400.
A woman who works at a nearby warehouse said she believes she has seen the victims sleeping in the area in the past.
"The one that is closer to our building, he's usually packing up and getting ready to go," said Celia Soltero, who works at the nearby courier service. "He kind of has a daily routine."
