PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Now you can live a little "greener" than before by sharing cars as you drive around Portland.
The car-sharing company Getaround launched Wednesday with a $1.7 million program backed by a federal grant.
How does it work? You can offer up a car on the company's website or pick one to drive around the city.
An hourly rental fee can range from a couple bucks to $75 an hour with exotic cars on the higher end.
Some people around Portland say it's a great way to get around.
Erin Kelley is interested in the car-sharing service. After being car-free for about 12 years, she's been a big fan of the Zip Car car-sharing system. But now, she says, "I'm interested in trying out some different cars and seeing how a new kind of service works."
This is the first launch outside of California.
