Police find stolen therapy dog

GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A stolen service dog has been reunited with its owner.

Jason Pfaff was visiting friends at the Rain Tree Apartments in Southeast Portland on Friday, Feb. 17, when police say someone stole his car with his service dog Ginger inside.

Fox12 ran a story about it, and Pfaff says he thinks that coverage helped police find Ginger.

Gresham police say that someone flagged down an officer Feb. 26 to report that a dog had been left in a car for a while.

The officer ran the plates and discovered that it was Pfaff's car and ginger was still inside.

Animal control showed up to take care of Ginger while police called Pfaff with the good news.

"I literally wasn't ready to accept that she wasn't in my life anymore.  I'm glad I didn't spend too much time focusing on that concept because my prayers were answered," Pfaff told Fox12.

Police are still searching for the suspects in this case.
