PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A local nonprofit has expanded a special music program for young cancer patients to the internet.
MyMusicRX.org services as an online musical playground, offering free access to songs and video messages from celebrities.
Portland's Children's Cancer Association (CCA) has been using music to bring joy into young patients' lives locally for more than 16 years. Now, the program is available nationwide via the web.
The CCA partnered with iTunes to create MyMusicRX.org, and there's now an app for the iPhone.
"Usually you'll be sitting in a hospital with some sort of medicine going into you with like a needle or something," CCA patient Hayley Bivins said. "So it involves like a distraction so you can have fun, but also be in a hospital, so it's not dragging on all day."
