Grant High School crowned its Rose Festival princess today.

Nyausha West took home the crown. The 17-year-old is a senior and plays basketball, volleyball and is on the track team. She's also a part of the Black Students Union Club and was the homecoming queen.

"Throughout my high school years, I have learned that I have a personality that people love to be around and that if I surround myself with positive people, positive things will come with that," said West.

Her future plans include pursuing a career as a social worker.

She is excited to be a part of the Rose Festival Parade. "I really enjoy the Rose Festival Parade. It is awesome to see how many people and families come out together to watch the parade and also all of the businesses that participate each year," said West.
