TriMet scales back potential cuts

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

TriMet is scaling back potential cuts that were announced last month.

The transit agency is still proposing a switch to a flat-rate system, which would eliminate fare zones, but the idea of moving to a one-way system is off the table for now.

Instead, TriMet wants to give adult riders two hours of travel time for an increased fare of $2.50.

The proposal still calls for the elimination of the free rail zone but no longer includes cuts to weekend bus and train service.
