Person you admire most:
Julia Child: "A woman who pursued her passion even when the whole world was against her and trying to put her down and out. She endured many personal hardships during her life, such as her inability to have children, which she was able to overcome and work through with the support of her husband and the strength within herself. Even when famous and on the television, she remained true to herself and just continued doing what she loved most: cooking."
What have you discovered about yourself during high school?
"Even since I realized my career goal and started pursuing it, I have dealt with the many reactions of those I have told. At this time, I feel whatever I face entering college, my workforce, or any future relationships I engage in, I can handle because of this time. I have discovered the strength within myself for the sake of pursuing my mission in life."
What is your favorite Rose Festival event and why?
Parades: "I remember as a child my father took my sister and I. It was the first parade I had ever been to. There were so many people and I could not see so my father picked me up and held me above the crowd. I remember the bands and their music, dancers, colors and sounds."
Pacific Power Mentor: Janet Huelsmann, assistant tax director
