PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A popular country singer is lending his star power to the effort to legalize marijuana in Oregon.
Music legend Willie Nelson has taped public service announcements voicing his support of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act.
In the PSA, Nelson states the initiative will create jobs and free up law enforcement resources.
Paul Stanford, a chief petitioner of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act, said he's confident Willie Nelson's endorsement will help bring more attention to the measure.
Supporters need to collect nearly 90,000 valid signatures by July 6 to get it on the November ballot.
