E. coli cases traced to raw milk from Clackamas County farm

Posted: Updated:

Raw milk from a Clackamas County farm is being blamed for at least four E. coli cases in children under the age of 15.

State health officials said three of the children have been hospitalized and two of them have developed a type of kidney failure. The fourth child has the illness, but hasn't been hospitalized.

Other customers of Foundation Farm are reporting diarrhea and other symptoms of E. coli, health authorities said.

The dairy has since stopped distributing milk, which was received by 48 households.

State and local authorities in Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah counties are investigating.

Raw milk is not allowed to be sold on store shelves and health officials advise against consuming it.

Anyone who may have raw milk from the farm is being asked to get rid of it.
