PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The Portland Gang Enforcement Team is searching for a suspect who opened fire in Rose City Park, injuring one person.
It all happened just after 6:30 Friday evening near 64th Avenue and Tillamook Street.
Police say the shooting began following a fight on the basketball court at Rice Elementary School. They closed off the entire park for several hours while they collected evidence.
When officers arrived on scene, they found 20-year-old Marquis Glover of Northeast Portland. Glover was shot multiple times but is expected to survive his injuries.
Based on the initial investigation it appears this shooting is gang-related, the 36th of 2012.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Detective Mitch Hergert at (503) 823-2081, or Mitchell.Hergert@PortlandOregon.gov <mailto:Mitchell.Hergert@PortlandOregon.gov.
He was taken to the hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary information from witnesses indicates that the suspect is a black male in his late teens or early 20s wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He left the area in an unknown red car.
Detectives continue to interview witnesses but encourage anyone who has any information to come forward.
