CRESCENT LAKE, OR (AP) -
Oregon state troopers investigating a link to a missing person case shot a man at a cabin in southern Oregon on Tuesday.
Troopers said the man was involved in a hostage situation at the Crescent Lake cabin, and a woman inside was not injured. Police described the man's injuries as non-life-threatening.
Oregon State Police didn't identify the two people, but the Umatilla County sheriff's office said Tuesday that police found a car at Crescent Lake associated with the kidnapping of a Hermiston woman missing since Thursday.
Melody Kaye Mickel, a 26-year-old drugstore employee, is believed to have gotten into a car last week with her former boyfriend, 28-year-old agricultural worker Alberto Quiroz Martinez.
Martinez has served time for kidnapping and attempted rape convictions.
