CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -
A sergeant with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was arrested Thursday afternoon on a warrant out of Clark County, WA.
Steve Hyson, who is also the president of the Clackamas County Police Union, turned himself in in connection with an alleged assault involving his 22-year-old stepson, deputies said.
Sheriff's officials in Clark County learned of the alleged assault Tuesday and alerted Hyson's employer in Clackamas County. He has been put on administrative leave while they investigate the allegations.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 12, Hyson and his stepson became involved in an argument. The stepson said Hyson grabbed him by the head and shoulder and spun him into the side of the house, causing him to suffer an apparent fractured cheekbone, Clark County deputies said.
Hyson's wife called 911, leading Clark County authorities to launch an investigation and eventually book him into jail.
Hyson, who made his first court appearance Friday morning, now faces charges of assault domestic violence.
