GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -
A Gresham man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl after she passed out from drinking too much.
The teen had gone to a party with some friends on the night of May 4.
She says she drank too much, passed out, then woke up in the middle of the night to find a man, allegedly Robert Hughes, sexually assaulting her.
The man who lives in the apartment had allowed Hughes to stay with him temporarily as a favor to his dad.
The teen says her friends were too drunk to realize what was going on or to help her.
"I started feeling him doing things to me. I just remember with my body, struggling to get away. He was hovering over me, just watching me sleep. Just leaning over the top of me. Right when I woke up the first thing I saw was his face, staring at me," she said.
Police say Hughes has admitted to having sexual contact with the teen, but denies intercourse.
What he can't deny is his criminal history. Fox 12 found more than 40 previous cases, including assault and driving while suspended.
Hughes now faces rape and sex abuse charges and is being held on $500,000 bail.
