An elderly couple is asking for the public's help to find their missing companion pet.
Jerry and Evelyn Walton believe Princess, their 12-year-old Pomeranian, was stolen from their backyard sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
The couple says she was too small to jump over the fence so they believe she was stolen.
"We thought she just went out to the deck. She likes to do that to smell the night air," Evelyn Walton says.
"We think a person just picked her up and handed her to another person. They went out to the street … then gone," Jerry Walton says.
The couple contacted authorities and plans to hang "missing dog" signs around the neighborhood in the hopes of bringing her back. She was not wearing a collar, but does have an updated microchip.
The dog was a companion pet for Jerry Walton, who suffers from a rare form of cancer.
"She is just a darling dog. And has always been so good and loving and I just don't know what I'm going to do without her," Evelyn Walton says. "We just want her back we know how to take care of her."
