CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH -
The man suspected of stealing millions of dollars from people in an elaborate scheme is being held without bail.
U.S. Marshals arrested a man, known by his alias "Bobby Thompson," in his Portland apartment last week.
Thompson was transported from Multnomah County Jail to northern Ohio, where he is being held now.
"We got him off of the streets, and he cannot scam the people of our good country any longer. It's a good feeling," said Special Agent Al Bansky, lead investigator on the case. "My feet have not been touching the ground all day. I'm ecstatic."
Thompson is accused of creating a fake Navy veterans charity that profited him about $100 million from people in more than 40 states.
Police say he was living on the run for two years and that "Bobby Thompson" is not his real name. Thompson refuses to reveal his true identity.
Authorities say evidence includes a suitcase full of birth certificates and other forms of identification seized from Thompson's Portland storage unit.
