AUMSVILLE, OR (KPTV) -
Aumsville police have arrested a man suspected of putting a video camera inside a stall of the women's bathroom at Bethel Baptist Church. Detectives say Christopher Fowler, 32, worked as a church youth leader up until his arrest. He also served as a janitor, according to a spokesman.
Police say their investigation started in December 2011 when the video camera was discovered. Detectives say they later seized several computers and hard drives belonging to Fowler and found a few videos of people using the bathroom at the church, as well as thousands of images of child porn.
As a result, he's been charged with 15 counts of encouraging child sex abuse in the first degree as well as invasion of personal privacy.
Investigators say the porn does not appear to be from the community and add there's no indication Fowler sexually abused anyone, but they're still investigating the case and reviewing additional hard drives.
Fowler is being held in Marion County Jail without bail. He's due in court Thursday afternoon.
Aumsville Police Department is asking anyone with additional information to contact the Police Department at 503-749-2188.
As of deadline Wednesday night, Bethel Baptist Church leaders had not issued a statement about the investigation.
