
Oregon State Police troopers are continuing their investigation into the cause of Thursday afternoon's single-vehicle crash along Highway 47 south of Vernonia.
The crash killed Rhoda Buckner, 73, of Vernonia.
Police said Buckner was northbound on Highway 47 near milepost 66 when her car traveled off the right shoulder and crashed head-on into a tree.
Buckner was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was using safety restraints and the car's airbags deployed.
Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by the Vernonia Police Department, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the Vernonia Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Highway 47 was closed for about three hours while traffic was routed around the scene.
