Man charged for accidentally firing gun

NEWPORT, OR (KPTV) -

Newport police say a Troutdale man almost shot an elderly woman when his gun accidentally fired at a Newport hotel.

Officers say Sean Palmer tried to holster his loaded .357 revolver when the gun went off Saturday night at the Embarcadero Resort. Police say Palmer fired a round through a wall and narrowly missed the head of an 80-year-old woman. She was not hurt.

Palmer is now facing charges for reckless endangering. Police also seized his concealed handgun license.
