A new security program at PDX allows some passengers to keep their shoes on.
That's just one of the perks of a special security line for members of the TSA pre-screening program.
Passengers share sensitive information with the TSA that's then embedded in the bar code on their boarding pass.
Once that's read, the person can then be put through an expedited screening process.
That allows the TSA to focus less on the frequent fliers who shared their information and give increased attention to the people who are more likely to be a safety threat.
It's also helpful for passengers. Jeff Glover, a member of the program, told Fox 12, "For me, being able not to have to take out my liquids, not have to take out my computer, not have to even take my jacket off, is excellent."
The PDX program is part of a partnership with Alaska Airlines, but registered Delta and American passengers can also use it.
Eligible passengers can sign up through their airlines' frequent flier programs or through a trusted traveler program like Global Entry.
