Trimet unveils new buses

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Trimet welcomed the first of 55 new buses.

Four of them are hybrid-electric vehicles.

Fifteen online contest winners got to take a test ride.

The buses have new brighter LED lighting, larger windows and automatic tire chains.

Trimet says the new buses will hit the streets in September.

The agency announced they've been awarded two federal grants for $7.5 million to buy 18 more hybrid buses.
