PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Family and friends of murdered teen Yashanee Vaughn met Sunday to spruce up the Yashanee Wall for Justice.

The wall is located at the bottom of Rocky Butte at Northeast 92nd Avenue and Northeast Russell Street near where her remains were found.

People at the event said they're trying to keep the wall neat until a more permanent memorial can be built.

"We would love to see a plaque mounted on the wall, either with her face or a few words dedicating this space to her. Yashanee, when she was found underground, we recognize that this is forever going to be a place we think of Yashanee," said Lonka Mitchell, who organized the cleanup, told Fox 12.

The teen accused in the killing, Parrish Benette, will stand trial later this year.

Yashanee's family believes he didn't act alone, and they are still urging the public to come forward with tips.
