CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police (OSP) found about $75,000 in stolen property Wednesday morning after responding to a reported suspicious container in a parking lot on the Oregon State University campus.

An OSU employee alerted OSP of the container at about 5:47 a.m.

It was located in the parking lot south of the Kerr Administration Building, investigators told FOX 12.

Responding troopers couldn't determine who the owner was, so the area was cordoned off and the OSP Explosives Unit was called in to examine the container, described as a large cooler.

Upon arrival, 15th Street was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Jefferson and Washington Streets for about an hour.

Explosive technicians used a robot to examine the container and determined it was not hazardous or explosive.

Inside the container, troopers found property stolen from an OSU van that was broken into May 19.

The stolen equipment from the OSU College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences include marine data collection devices and cable.
