VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
Former American Idol contestant Britnee Kellogg made the Pacific Northwest proud on the hit singing show this season, and now she's hoping to shine a spotlight on a serious issue.
Kellogg is working with Vancouver-based Called To Rescue to help build a safe house for victims of sex trafficking.
As the mother of two young boys, Kellogg said the issue of sex trafficking is one that needs to get more attention.
"There's so many young children right now that need to be saved and [need] a place that's safe, [where] they're being taken care of, they're loved and their lives can be changed," Kellogg said. "I think it's absolutely phenomenal and life-changing."
Kellogg made it to Hollywood on this season of American Idol and performed for the judges.
