PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Thousands of local students invaded Jeld-Wen field on Thursday to learn how to stay in shape.
It was all part of the "Portland Timbers U-23 Health and Fitness School day."
The Timbers U-23, or under 23 years old team, are the development team for the Portland Timbers.
The day started with an interactive health fair at 9 a.m.
Doctors from Providence Sports Care Center, including the timbers own cardiologist, spoke to the students at 16 interactive booths.
Students learned about balance, strength, endurance, flexibility and much more. They also participated in an exercise challenge and the team gave away prizes to the class that racked up the most activity minutes.
The Timbers U-23 team later played rivals Kitsap Pumas.
The team expected 7,000 kids at Thursday's event.
