Beavers sweep Ducks with 5-0 victory in baseball Civil War

Posted: Updated:

Kavin Keyes and Michael Conforto each drove in two runs and Oregon State defeated Oregon 5-0 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep of the Ducks in the regular season's final series.

Taylor Starr (5-2) allowed seven hits in 6 1/3 shutout innings for the Beavers (38-18, 18-12 Pac-12) who will learn their postseason fate on Monday.

The Ducks (42-17, 19-11, Pac-12) got word before the game that PK Park will host an NCAA regional next weekend. But Oregon was denied a share of the Pac-12 title when Arizona defeated Arizona State 8-7 on Sunday.

Jeff Gold (8-4) allowed two runs on three hits over four innings for the loss. The sweep by the Beavers came after a nine-game winning streak for the Ducks.

Last season Oregon swept Oregon State in the Civil War series to end the season.

In addition to Oregon, Arizona, Stanford and UCLA also will host regional tournaments. Teams and pairings for each of the 16 regionals will be announced Monday.

Oregon hasn't hosted an NCAA baseball tournament game since 1954, but the school didn't field a team from 1982 to 2009. The Ducks also went to the postseason tournament in 1964 and 2010.

The Beavers, who won back-to-back College World Series titles in 2006 and 2007, have been to the tournament for the past three seasons.

Arizona and UCLA shared the Pac-12 championship. Oregon finished third, followed by Oregon State.
