Nancy Schoeffler
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A $1,000 reward is now being offered for hit-and-run suspect Ashley Chavez, who police said may be in Colorado.
Chavez is accused of being the driver who struck and killed Nancy Schoeffler on West Burnside Street earlier this year. She and a passenger, Angela Kaps-Collins, fled from the scene, police said.
In the weeks that followed, authorities said the car used in the crime was taken to Kaps-Collins' house in Corbett for repairs.
"They had it parked in front of the garage, working on it, swapping parts out with another Honda," said Justin Bute, Kaps-Collins' neighbor.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to FOX 12 that the two women are believed to be co-workers who had been drinking before and after a Portland Timbers soccer match on March 31, the night of the crash.
While police arrested Kaps-Collins earlier this week on charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence, Chavez has remained at large.
She may have traveled out of state, possibly to Colorado, and police want to hear from anyone with information on her current whereabouts.
Chavez is described as white, 5'3" tall and 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
