SALEM, OR (KPTV) -
Flags will fly at half-staff at all public institutions on Monday in honor of Marine Cpl. Keaton G. Coffey.
That's according to Gov. John Kitzhaber, who made the announcement Thursday.
Coffey, 22, of Boring, OR, died May 24 during combat operations in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, 1st Marine Headquarters Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
Kitzhaber called Coffey a dedicated young leader who was committed to his family and country.
He said Coffey's death is a "tragic loss and a reminder of the burden our military and their families continue to bear overseas."
